Even
He commands even the winds
and the water, and they obey Him.
Luke 8:25
command: to exercise a dominating influence over
Is there something you are facing - whether in your
outer circumstances or in your inner character - that
seems impossible to command? Don't despair. Don't
shrug and give up. Our Lord - your Lord and mine -
can command even the most difficult, unruly thing that
seems as if it will never be commanded. Let His word
"even" be a comfort to you. "He who commands even the
winds and the water" (and they must obey Him) can say
to that "even" of yours, "Peace, be still." And there
will come for you a great calm. Remember, that there is
nothing you are asked to do in your own strength. Not
the least thing, nor the greatest.

So Busy
My soul, wait in silence
for God only, for my hope
is from Him.
Psalm 62:5
We live in such a busy world
with so many things demanding
our time and attention...work,
family, relationships, television,
magazines, music, the internet,
errands, housework, church,
community activities, social activities,
world events, child rearing,
caregiving...just to name a few!
If we do not take time out and
get alone with God, how do we
expect to hear him?

He Chose Us
He chose us in Him before
the foundation of the world,
that we would be holy and
blameless before Him.
Ephesians 1:4
God knows everything. God is the
Creator and Sustainer of your life.
God, in His omniscience and sovereignty,
allowed you to experience what you ex-
perienced. His intent was not to destroy
you, because His thoughts toward you are
precious. Rather, His purpose was to use
it to make you into His child, a child
upon whom He would delight to pour out
His love, a child who would serve Him in
the fullness of His grace.

The Helper
Whether you turn to
the right or to the left,
your ears will hear a voice
behind you, saying, "This is
the way; walk in it."
Isaiah 30:21
Jesus' promise to you and me is that the Helper
will be with us always, day and night, standing
by for any protection we need and for every
emergency. Our only part is to recognize His
presence and to call upon Him in joyous faith.
Once the truth of this amazing comradeship gets
firmly imbedded in our mind and heart, we need
never be afraid again, or lonely, or hopeless,
or sorrowful, or helplessly inadequate. For the
Helper is always with us, and altogether adequate.

Time
But these things I plan won't
happen right away. Slowly,
steadily, surely, the time
approaches when the vision
will be fulfilled. If it
seems slow, wait patiently,
for it will surely take place.
Habakkuk 2:3
God sees your life from His eternal
perspective. He will take whatever
time is necessary to grow your character
to match His assignment for you.

Be Still
Be still and
know that
I am God.
Psalm 46:10
There is a place of stillness that
allows God the oppportunity to work
for us and gives us peace. It is a
stillness that ceases our scheming,
self-vindication, and the search for
a temporary means to an end through
our own wisdom and judgement.
Instead, it lets God provide an
answer, through His unfailing and
faithful love, to the cruel blow
we have suffered.
May God grant each of us this silent
power and submissive spirit.

Our Need
And my God shall supply
all your need according
to His riches in glory
by Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19
Scripture says that we will never face a need
for which God's provision is not more than
adequate. God wants to draw from His unlimited
storehouse to meet our need, as only He can.
No one has ever exhausted God's supply nor
suffered a shortfall when trusting Him.

Worthy
...walk in a manner worthy of
the calling with which you have
been called, with all humility
and gentleness, with patience,
showing tolerance for one another
in love, being diligent to preserve
the unity of the Spirit in the bond
of peace.
Ephesians 4:1-3
Heavenly Father, I thank You
that nothing can change my
position as Your child. I pray
that You will continually fill me with
the Spirit so I may walk in a manner
worthy of that calling.

His Presence
Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you.
Hebrews 13:5
Where can I go from your spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are
there. If I make my bed in the
depths, you are there. If I rise
on the wings of the dawn, if I
settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
Psalm 139:7-10

Words
Let the words of my mouth
and the meditations of my
heart, be acceptable in
Your sight, O Lord, my
strength and my redeemer.
Psalm 19:14
What comes out of our mouths
has to do with the condition
of our heart. Our words can
justify us or condemn us.
They can bring joy to us or
corrupt and dishonor us.
The words we say can either
build up or tear down the
soul of the person we are
speaking to. What you
say and how you say it reflects
what is in your heart.
